PJ Harvey - Let England Shake

I've been meaning to talk about this album for a while, and now that PJ Harvey has won the Mercury Prize for it, it seems like a good time.

This is the second Mercury Prize for Harvey, and she is the first artist to have won it twice. Her first win occurred on September 11, 2001, while stuck in a hotel room in Washington, D.C. Let England Shake is a captivating album, and a true work of art. Harvey's versatility and talent shine on every track, weaving a tale that holds you from beginning to end. She researched the history of conflict, including reading testimonies from soldiers and civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The accompanying videos were filmed by Seamus Murphy, whom Harvey contacted after seeing his exhibition "A Darkness Visible".

a couple of my favorites:

You can see more of them on Youtube.
